Ways and Means





President - Oversees PTA calendar and budget, coordinates PTA sponsored activities with the school.


Membership Toolkit - Works with MTK company and software to get our summer registration ready. Trains chairs who need to use it.

Meet the Teacher - Organizes Meet the Teacher event.

Parliamentarian - Attends all PTA meetings and ensures the PTA is following the Bylaws. Oversees nominating committee. Submits updated bylaws at least every 4 years. Submits standing rule amendments as needed.


Secretary - Takes minutes of all PTA meetings (exec, board, general) submits minutes for approval at each meeting, binds all minutes for permanent record, distributes sign in sheets at all meetings.


Treasurer - responsible for all financial accounts, depositing money, writing checks, runs monthly reports, submits yearly sales tax, submits annual tax forms.


Legislative - Keeps PTA informed of any local, state or federal legislation that would impact our school



Council Delegate - Attends monthly Plano Council of PTAs meetings



Past President - Helps current president as needed


Principal -  School Principal


1st VP, Programs  - Responsible for all chair positions under Programs. Works with counselor to select and schedule parent education programs. Schedules performers for the fall and spring assemblies and the Veteran's Day assembly.


After School Programs - Selects and promotes the after school programs

Arts in Education - Organizes the family night for fall and spring book fairs. Also, promotes the national Reflections programs and participation.

Environmental - Attends to flower pots around school entrances, encourages recycling programs

Health and Safety - Organizes Red Ribbon Week


Hospitality (2)  - Coordinates Staff Luncheons and Appreciation Week


Junior Achievement  - Recruits volunteers to teach the Junior Achievement program for each classroom.

SAGE - Special and Gifted Education - recruits members, promotes programs for SAGE

2nd VP, Membership - Recruits Mathews PTA membership, submits recipients for Volunteer Recognition. Organizes and attends  kinder play dates (2), newcomer breakfast


Dads Club - Organizes men's volunteer opportunites, hosts Dad's club events


Directory - Creates and distributes the Mathews School directory


Partnership -  Encourages participation in programs that give back to the school ie. Amazon Smile, Kroger Reward, Tom Thumb, World Wear project, Target, etc,



3rd VP, Ways and Means - Over see all W&M activities and secondary fundraisers


Auction (2) - Organizes one auction


Book Fair (2) - Organize and run 2 scholastic book fairs per year with Scholastic


Carnival (2) -  Plan and execute school carnival


Labels for Education/Box Tops -  Promote the program, count entries and submit for donations


Primary Fundraiser -  Execute approved primary fundraiser


School Supplies (2) - Work with teachers to select school supply lists, get quotes, create order form on MTK, distribute and sell

Spirit Event - Plan and execute 2 spirit events ie. Bowling, Roughriders, Jump Street, Movie Night


Spirit Goods (2) - Select and sell shirts and promotional items to sell for the upcoming school year


4th VP, Volunteers - Oversee all Volunteers needs and chairs below. Coordinates decorating school entrances and office for each season

Field Day (2) - Work with PE coaches to plan and recruit volunteers for Field Day, order shirts


Grade Level Room Reps - Coordinates class parties, volunteer needs and grade-level events
- Kinder -  Earth Day picnic
- 1st Grade - Pioneer Day
- 4th Grade - Texas Day
- 5th Grade - Camp, Colonial Days, Graduation

YO Pack - Distributes printed flyers for students, staff and families monthly

Communications - Coordinates activities of all Communications


Bulletin Board  - Updates PTA bulletin board at entrance


Calendar - Creates monthly calendar for printed distribution


Marquee - Updates school marquee with events and announcements - weekly


Mavs Express (2) - Publishes weekly e-newsletter (not responsible for writing articles)


Publicity - Promoting events on social media, submitting events in local newspapers


Webmaster -  Updates our school website weekly


Yearbook (2) - Creates and sells yearbook
